Step-by-Step Tutorial: Featured Locations in Website Admin Settings

Welcome! This tutorial will guide you through the Website Admin Settings for Featured Locations. These settings enable you to focus on the communities that matter most to your business, helping you create dynamic website content that drives engagement. Below, you'll find a clear walkthrough of all the features to make the most of your settings.

Under Website Admin you’ll find Settings in the side menu, clicking settings will expand to show Featured Locations. Click Featured Locations.

1. Featured Locations

  • Your featured locations are the communities you want to focus on, where you spend most of your time and marketing attention. These will be used to create dynamic website content and pages.

  • Here, you'll see a list of all current Featured Locations and which are marked as Favorites.

To Edit a Featured Location, Click Edit next to the desired location.

  • Location lets you set the location used, if a more specific location is needed More can be pressed.
You can also set if this location is a Favorite, granting it higher visibility for certain features or widgets.

  • Image lets you set the image used for your location. This image will be used in:

    • Widgets and Content on your homepage

    • The location’s main page as the Masthead image at the top.

    • Used in any social media sharing for this Featured Location if utilized.

For further customization, select Advanced to assign a different image that is used for cards or tiles prior to opening the full listing detail page if desired.

  • Links are typically used to show that Featured Location but filtered by criteria like price. This can be optionally shown on cards and tiles for this location and also used as its page content. A more detailed explanation will be included below under ‘How to Manage Links’.

  • Page Settings set the Page Name and page Registration Settings.

  • Page Content sets the Page Contents and Order when viewing the Featured Location’s main page.

  • Navigation Link sets how (and if) this Feature Location displays in your navigation menu

If you’re happy with your Edits to this specific Featured Location, you can press Save.

2. Favorite Locations Order

  • Your Favorited Featured Locations can be re-arranged here. This order will be the order that your locations display in for widgets and other features around the website.

    • Noting- this does NOT change their order in the Navigation menu. The Navigation order is set from the Navigation Menu section of the website.

3. Default Location Settings

  • Use the Default Location Settings button to  determine what default links and default page content is used when creating Featured Locations.

How to Manage Links

What Are Links?

Links are Saved Search Pages for a Featured Location filtered by a criteria.
Example: we have a Featured Location for Citrus Heights

  • Link to the saved search page Citrus Heights under $300,000

  • Link to Citrus Heights $300,000 to $400,000 listings

  • Link to Citrus Heights $400,000 to $500,000 listings

  • Link to Citrus Heights Land for Sale listings

  • Etc

What are Saved Search pages?

Saved Search pages are website pages with a predetermined (saved) search criteria that can appear as a result for those searching online. This has many benefits but for now we’ll focus on the ‘how to’.

  • SEO Focus: Take advantage of the advanced settings to fine-tune meta titles and descriptions for each Featured Location page.

Copy, Edit, or Delete existing links

  • Next to each Link you’ll see the option for ‘Copy’ to duplicate a link as an easy starting point that can be edited if desired.

  • Next to each Link you’ll also see the option for ‘Edit’ to adjust the link as desired.

  • Last you’ll see a Red X to delete the Link. Be cautious when deleting links since this action cannot be undone.

    • Note, Copying a Link does not inherently make a new saved search page. To make a new Saved Search page, edit the newly copied Link and click ‘link to’. Select IDX Search. Confirm any desired settings from the pop up window. Check the box for ‘Create Saved Search’ page and press ‘OK’ so a new Saved Search page is created to go with your newly added link.

Adding New Links

‘Add Link’ is found at the bottom of the list of existing Feature Location Links. This will create a new link that will be included at the bottom of your existing list of Links for this Featured Location.  To make New Content from here such as a New Saved Search page you can select ‘link to’ and choose IDX Search as detailed in the note and check the box for ‘Create Saved Search’.
