Step-by-Step Guide: Domains under Website Admin
Welcome! This guide will walk you through the Domain settings for your iHouse Elite website. This step-by-step guide will help you adjust, set, and manage your website's domains effectively.
If you’re unsure about any step or need assistance, feel free to reach out to the Elite Service Team to ensure best practices are used and no steps are skipped prior to making changes.
1. Navigate to Domains
Under Website Admin you’ll find Domains in the side menu, Click Domains.
“This website is always available at the following iHouse address:”
Your website will always be available at your iHouse address (e.g., a preconfigured subdomain).
If desired, you can edit your subdomain as well by pressing ‘Edit iHouse Subdomain’.
2. Adding a Domain
“No Domain Defined”: If you see this message you can click ‘Add a new domain’
You can Enter a domain you want or Enter a domain you already own.
Enter a Domain you want:
Type in your desired domain name, then press check availability
If available, ‘Register this domain’ will appear. If clicked the domain is purchased through enom.
The domain is then automatically added to your iHouse Elite Website
Enter a domain you already own:
Note: If you choose to add a domain you already own, please don’t hesitate to contact support before making any changes to ensure the proper nameservers can be updated as well as any needed mail exchange records for email.
Type in your domain name, and then press ‘Add this domain’
The domain is then automatically noted on your iHouse Elite website
*Nameservers and mail exchange records will then need to be updated
*WARNING: Pointing your name servers to us could interrupt your email service if you have custom MX (Mail Exchange) records. To avoid any interruption, you'll want to coordinate this change with our support department so we can set the MX Records for your domain on our end FIRST. If you already have a domain with another registrar (such as GoDaddy, Enom, etc.), Your domain will not be fully attached to your website until you have updated your DNS (Domain Name Servers), which is a process that our support team can help you with so please dont hesitate to reach out before making changes.
Alternatively, ‘go back to your Admin Menu’ can be pressed as well.
3. View and Manage Your Domains (quick menu)
Once your domain is added, it will appear in the domain list with a few quick menu options for Publish, Primary, AutoRenew, and Settings
Publish: Publish will indicate that your website is published, clicking this will unpublish the site and then will display a this website has not published, please check again later message.
Primary: Primary will be checked by default if you have one domain, but if you have multiple domains, you can assign which of your domains will be at the primary.
AutoRenew: Auto-renew will appear with a check mark if you register your domain through iHouseweb. This indicates that the domain will automatically renew annually at the date stated
Settings: Settings can be clicked for the full settings and options for each respective domain.
4. Settings
For more advanced settings beyond the quick menu, Settings can be clicked for each domain. This will list the options for Auto Renew Settings, Unpublish website, Advanced DNS/MX settings, Push Domain to Enom, and Delete Domain.
Auto Renew Settings, same as seen in the quick menu options
Auto-renew will appear with a check mark if you register your domain through iHouseweb. This indicates that the domain will automatically renew annually at the date stated
Unpublish Website, same as seen in the quick menu options
Unpublish will unpublish the site and then will display a “this website has not published, please check again later” message.
Advanced DNS/MX Settings
Here you can add the necessary mail records If you have domain specific email, or if you need to add a record for website verification purposes
As mentioned earlier, prior to making changes, please contact our support team to ensure that best practices are used and that no steps are skipped
.
Push Domain To Enom
If iHouse Elite is currently managing the registration settings and renewal of your domain name, you can decide to push the domain to your own personal control but you will be responsible for its management, settings, and direct payment going forward as if you had purchased the domain on your own. Enom is the domain platform used to manage your domain If you decide to push your domain to your own personal direct control
Again, as mentioned earlier, prior to making changes, please contact our support team to ensure the best practices are used and that no steps are skipped prior to taking action.
Delete Domain
This will remove the domain immediately from your iHouse Elite account. All associated email accounts will be permanently deleted and the domain registration for the domain will be canceled so please be careful before proceeding and feel free to reach out with any questions prior.
NOTE: Charges for the iHouse Elite website will continue to apply even if this domain is deleted. This function is not a cancellation of service, just the domain itself.
That’s it! You now have the tools to manage your website's domain. Always remember to consult the iHouseweb support team before making significant adjustments- especially with name servers, MX records, or domain transfers, to ensure smooth implementation and avoid disruptions.
